The Story of Lydia’s Home
Following her own substance abuse recovery experience, Tamela Shawhan saw the need for a unique faith-centered recovery home and began praying and planning for Lydia’s Home. In 2017, Lydia’s Home was launched following the purchase and renovation of a home in the City of Green. Since then, many women have transformed their lives in this loving home through this unique program.
Tamela oversees the program, provides support to the other residential supervisors, and serves as a mentor to the women in residence. If you have questions, contact Tamela at 330-807-8226 or email tamela@brokenchainsministry.org.

We support the City of Green’s Drug Task Force. The drugs that are abused most often are fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
Podcast Appearance
Tamela Shawhan appeared on Beyond the Pew in May 2024 to share the mission of Lydia’s Home and her passion for the ministry. The way is narrow, but you can become a new creation in Christ.
“When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.”
